Building a Remote Team

Building a Remote Team
S

There are a number of benefits that come from building a remote team, which is why it’s the route that many businesses are taking. It doesn’t matter how large or small your business is, you are sure to get something out of having people work remotely. However, it’s important to get started in the correct way.

Top Tips for Building a Great Remote Team

  • Have a Live Meeting or Interview – When you are building a remote team, you have the freedom to recruit people from far and wide. However, this does mean that you may not be able to interview them in person. This can prove to be a problem when it comes to assessing their abilities, as there’s only so much information you can get from a CV. It’s a good idea to have a live meeting or interview with them, to truly get a feel of who they are and what they are capable of.
  • Use a Monitoring and Management System – It isn’t always easy to keep track of a remote team, but that’s not to say that it’s impossible. You may want to consider putting a monitoring and management system in place, to ensure that workers are meeting their goals and completing tasks. It’s also a good way to highlight any problems that need to be addressed.
  • Choose People Who are Self Motivated – When someone is part of a remote team, they won’t have coworkers or managers there to keep them on task and working hard. This is why you should choose people who are self motivated. Being able to work independently is hugely important when working remotely.
  • Think About Time Differences – Though building a remote team does give you the opportunity to hire workers from anywhere, be mindful of time differences. If you do hire someone who is based elsewhere, they may have slightly different working hours to you. This is something that you will need to factor in when giving deadlines.

At The Work Vault, we know that working remotely is often the best option for many freelancers and businesses. This is why we work hard to ensure that finding talented workers and successful businesses is as easy as possible.
